A Fred is a strange growth that formed on a mammillaria bocasana, someone cut the growth off, started it on its own and named it Fred. From this plant, others were created, through cuttings or grafts to produce the Freds we have today. I got my first Fred 30 or so years ago and fell in love with the strange mostly spineless form. Over the years I've collected a number of them. This site is just to share some photos of my collection.

Here is a large Fred, difficult to get this size as they sometimes self destruct.
